Ancient altars were built in sacred and powerful places: where the ley lines of earth meet and vortices exist, at the top of mountains where heaven and earth meet or near lakes and rivers where the power of the waters flow from the center of the earth to the surface.

An altar can be for a specific purpose, can be general or can change or be added to for a particular purpose (e.g., equinox or solstice celebrations). Create an altar in a safe and sacred place that you can call your own; a private place that is yours and no one else can enter. Spend time there daily connecting with the Divine Energies of Light; building relationships, extending gratitude, asking for healing and guidance or whatever you may need on the path of your spiritual evolvement.

There is no right or wrong way to create an altar. I encourage you to listen to your intuition and use your imagination. You may place any sacred item(s) on your altar that resonate with you and your needs.  A basic altar consists of the 4 elements listed below:

• Fire (candles, incense)
• Water (infuse with intention – reference video on how to “charge water”)
• Air (Feathers)
• Earth (rocks, minerals)

Remember to create sacred space before you begin and close the space with gratitude when you’re finished (ref article and video “Creating Sacred Space in the Energetic Protection Section” of the Resources tab).  You’re now ready for communion with the Sacred via meditation, ritual, prayer, affirmations, etc.  You don’t have to read something that is scripted in order to connect.  Talk to the Sacred energies as you would a friend!

Blessings!!
